Short stories are notoriously difficultso we are toldbut committing to the process of a solid first draft over a number of weeks, isn’t backbreaking or mind boggling, it’s exhilarating and fun! All you have to do is bring along an idea for a short story, choose how you want to tell that story (and why), and spend the next six weeks writing the story with peer group support and tutor insights. At the end you will have a short story draft you are happy with. What do you need for this course? An open mind, willingness to write on a weekly basis, time to read others, and most of all: a love of short stories.

June Caldwell's short story collection Room Little Darker was published in 2017 by New Island Books and in 2018 by Head of Zeus. Her novel Little Town Moone is forthcoming from John Murray.
