In this six week course Anna Carey, whose debut young adult novel The Real Rebecca won the Senior Children's Book of the Year prize at the 2011 Irish Book Awards, will guide students through the process of writing YA fiction, exploring everything from finding an authentic teenage voice to choosing the perfect literary genre, from structuring a plot to working with an editor. Students will also look at significant YA titles past and present to discuss what makes a good young adult novel. This course will be suitable for beginner writers and those looking to expand their writing practice.

Anna Carey is a journalist and award-winning author from Dublin who is regular contributor to the Irish Times and RTÉ. She has been writing features for Irish and British broadsheets and magazines since 1998 and her first novel, The Real Rebecca, won the Senior Children's Book of the Year prize at the 2011 Irish Book Awards.
